Welcome! I’m Gabriela.
Born and raised in the Bay Area of California, I always knew I wanted to be an artist one day. I took advanced art classes, dabbling in every medium I could. Then one day, not long out of high school, I tried out an intro to cosmetology class and it just clicked, this was IT. The perfect combination of creativity and social connection with a clear direction. I attended the San Francisco AVEDA school immediately and was lucky enough to land a job while still in school at the beautiful Edo Salon. I spent two years apprenticing there under Jayne Matthews and thats when my vision for my career truly made sense. At Edo they encouraged and fostered creativity, they saw their hairstylists not just as hairstylists but artists. I feel so lucky to have spent the first 6 years of my career there before taking a big leap of faith and moving to Portland. I’m so thankful the skills I learned there prepared me for the task of starting over in a new city that I love so much! 4 years later and I’m opening my own hair studio with support of a full and growing clientele that I can safely say are my dream clients. I appreciate you all so much and can’t wait to share this space I’ve created with you.
My style is effortless, easy to style, bohemian hair. I’m committed to helping you understand and work with your natural texture for the most low maintenance hair possible. I want to help you love your natural hair through the right cut, color, product and maintenance because I believe styling hair should be a fun and creative endeavor, not a necessity. My goal is to help you recognize your unique facial features, hair texture, head shape, growth patterns, and personal style, so that each cut and color reflects who you are.
I have trained extensively in razor cutting and organic hair color, learning techniques from my two year apprenticeship at Edo Salon assisting under Jayne Matthews as well as classes with Bumble & Bumble, Davines, Organic Colour Systems and Pony Salon. My work has also been featured in Elle France, SF Gate and Modern Salon. I now have 10 years of experience behind the chair that I’d love to share with you.
Portland is now fully my home base but I try to make the trip back down to the Bay Area once or twice a year.
I look forward to working with you!
